Welcome to the Campbell-Wright HBCU Gullah Geechee Internship Program

Honoring Heritage. Empowering Futures.

Our mission is to empower HBCU students through hands-on learning experiences that connect them with the history, culture, and communities of the Gullah Geechee Corridor, fostering a deeper understanding of cultural preservation and its impact on society.

Connecting with Gullah Geechee Communities in Florida

Visiting the community of Cosmo was such a rewarding experience. Being from Florida, I had never known or so much as heard of Gullah Geechee people. Being able to visit this community in the state of Florida was a different experience for me compared to the different places I was able to visit in South Carolina.

“This experience has brought new life to my research and my position as a Black researcher. Going to one of the original homes of Black life in America is an intangible experience.”
